Understanding Account Types in Jamroom Index Jamroom Skins and Profile Themes

Overview

The Jamroom Quota System is at the very heart of how Jamroom functions, and allows you as a Jamroom owner to provide varying levels of “features” to your users, depending on the Jamroom Quota the Artist or Member Profile belongs to. There is an important point to make up front - Jamroom Quotas are applied to Artist and Member Profiles, not User Accounts. Since there can be more than 1 User Account assigned to an Artist Profile, the “Quota” is assigned to the Artist or Member profile. This allows the feature set defined in the Jamroom Quota to follow the Artist or Member Profile.

A Jamroom Quota can be thought of as a type of "User Group" where varying levels of access can be given to each group.

Note: Only the Jamroom Master Admin has access to the Master Admin Menu and the Jamroom Quotas.

Creating a Jamroom Quota

Creating a Jamroom Quota is very easy - simply click on the "Create Quota" button in the Jamroom Config -> Jamroom Quotas section.  If you have the Jamroom Bonus Pack installed, you will be asked if you want to create a new Member or Artist Quota.  You will also have the ability to "clone" a pre-existing Jamroom Quota, which makes it easy to create a new Jamroom Quota that might be slightly different than an existing one.  If you do not have the Jamroom Bonus Pack installed, you will only be able to create a new Artist Quota, so you would be taken directly to the new Artist Quota form.

To complete the creation of your new Jamroom Quota, simply make sure all of the options on the form are how you want them to be, and save your new Quota - that's it!

Modifying a Jamroom Quota

To Modify an existing Jamroom Quota, click on the "Jamroom Config" link in your Master Admin menu, then the Jamroom Quotas link.  You will be presented with all of the Jamroom Quotas currently configured in your Jamroom, in tabular format.  The following options are available from the Browse Quotas screen:
  • Note - View any Admin Note attached to the Jamroom Quota.
  • Modify - Click this button to Modify the Jamroom Quota.
  • Delete - Click this button to Delete the Jamroom Quota.
  • Payout - initiate a Payout to artists in this quota (only available with Jamroom Payment Pack)
To Modify the Jamroom Quota, simply click on the "Modify" button to the right of the Quota you wish to modify, and you will be taken to the Modify Quota form.

Deleting a Jamroom Quota

To Delete an existing Jamroom Quota, click on the "Jamroom Config" link in your Master Admin menu, then the Jamroom Quotas link.

To Delete the Jamroom Quota, simply click on the "Delete" button to the right of the Quota you wish to Delete.  Note that you will be asked to select a NEW Jamroom Quota to move any Artist/Member accounts to in cases where there are Artist or Member Profiles assigned to the Jamroom Quota you wish to delete.  If there are no Artist or Member profiles assigned to the Jamroom Quota you are going to delete, Jamroom will delete the Jamroom Quota directly.

Changing the Jamroom Quota for an Artist or Member Profile

To change the Jamroom Quota that an Artist or Member Profile belongs to, first you will need to make the Artist or Member Profile the "active" Profile, by clicking on the "Artist Menu" or "Member Menu" link at the bottom of the Admin Menu, choosing "Select Artist" (or 'Select Member"), highlighting the Artist or Member Profile, and clicking the submit button.  This makes that Profile the "Active" profile.  You can now click on "Modify Artist" (or "Modify Member") and select the new Jamroom Quota that the profile should belong to.

Note: Only the Master Admin can see the Jamroom Quota option in the Modify Artist/Member screen. “Normal” user accounts do not see this option.

Moving Profiles between Jamroom Quotas

If you would like to move Profiles from one Jamroom Quota to another, select the "Browse Quotas" link from the Master Admin menu.  From the Browse Quotas screen, click on the "Quota Transfer" button in the header - this takes you to the transfer screen.  From this screen you can select the Jamroom Quota to move Profiles from, and the Jamroom Quota you would like to move Profiles to.  You can also select to have the Profiles "forced" to a new Profile Theme from this screen as well.

Using the Quota Comparison Matrix

Another tool to assist you in developing your Jamroom Quotas, is the "Quota Comparison Matrix" - a tool that lays out your Jamroom Quotas side by side, so you can easily spot the differences between Jamroom Quotas.  The Quota Comparison Matrix is available from the header toolbar in the Browse Quotas screen.
