Has anyone tested Jamroom 5 on any of these cloud providers?

JR4 presented an interesting challenge the way the cluster software was setup. I'm wondering if JR5 will make it easier to consider these hosting options.

Thanks!

Jamroomnetwork (and myself for the JR5 motagator.com) use DigitalOcean cloud servers ok.
I'll be checking out EC2 for JR5 in the next day or so, so will let you know about that.

You're probably not going to get really good performance on EC2 - mainly because EBS is so slow.

It probably won't be JR 5.1.0 where it comes in, but in JR 5.2.0 I have plans to allow you to store your media on S3 so it will run in a distributed mode (i.e. multiple JR5 front ends behind a load balancer) so you can scale. 80% of that work is actually already complete, as the media "system" in JR5 is plug in based, but there's some shortcuts that were taken to get JR5 released that I need to go back and expand on so it will work throughout.

For now I would highly recommend something like Digital Ocean - with their SSD's JR5 runs pretty darn good.

Hope this helps!

I, too, would recommend DigitalOcean!

Yes it should be able to - nginx support was planned from the beginning (I'm a big fan of nginx), but it's not been tested and I still need to come up with a proper nginx.conf file that contains the proper rewrite info to work. It's not something I can do at this time, but I'll get a ticket open on it for JR 5.1.0.

For now I would recommend only Apache.

Hope this helps!
