make sure your settings.cfg.php file has the correct path set, make sure your session domain in the admin panel (you may need to go through phpmyadmin to check/change it) is set to the correct domain, make sure your .htaccess file has the correct www/non-www commented out.

Clear your browser cache, then try again.

I have changed the maintenance mode to 'no' so I can log in. works fine.
After that I have changed the environment settings to the new domain. Works like a charm!

Perhaps you can use the same kind of technique which is used on the regular login page on the maintenance page so you can still login to change the settings.
