The music charts are always displaying "New" material when the songs are several months old. How do I permanently keep old songs from appearing new? Would this be in the Cache Settings? If so what do I set it to?

Thanks for your support.

"new" simply means that the song is newer than that "chart_days" value for your chart. So even if a song is several months old, if you have an "all time" chart, then every song will be "new" to that chart - you'd want to edit that row_template for that chart and not show the "new" graphic/tag.

Hope this helps!

So are you saying find the row_template and edit something? If so, where do I find the row template and what specifically should I change in it?

Thanks for your support.

after completely resetting my charts to 0 ... zero i also completely reset ALL stats ... rebuild everything cleared caches, integrity check, profiles, etc ... so charts have 0 as the amount of days and movement in the chart is set to 1 .... still says "NEW" ??? ... havent uploaded new audio for 2-3 weeks so resetting charts to 0 and 1 should produce hot/cold images .... the new image is the only image that displays now even when songs/videos are clicked ... these files move up and down the charts without new hot/cold images ?

i tried ftp and deleted ranking.php and rating.php ... then went back did a rebuild ... integrity check said everything was FINE !!! .... ok ? tested it and charts didnt work ... gr8 as they shouldnt ... went back to ftp and uploaded everything .... rest rebuild ... still the charts think these files are NEW ?? they shouldnt have because the system should think the rating.php and ranking.php are NEW ... and they are 4.2.7 ... so its a database date thing maybe ... i cant do this ... no clue ... ive tried everything lol

The code your looking for is this............
<img src="{$JAMROOM_URL}/skins/Nova/images/chart_{$VIDEO_DIRECTION}.png" alt="{$VIDEO_DIRECTION}" title="{$VIDEO_DIRECTION}" class="n_outline"><br>

But that code also controls the up and down (Hot Cold) arrows....
You can see the graphics for them in the skins/Nova/images/ directory.
chart_new.png
chart_hot_up.png
chart_down.png
chart_cool_down.png

I've been checking my test sites and also Jamrooms Demo sites.
And I really think the issues here are just your settings and caches.
There are several things that seem to affect the charts.......
(1.) Chart Maximum History
(2.) Song Chart Change
(3.) Cache System Enabled
(4.) Song Play Timer

(5.) And at one time even the length of time the song is played before its counted as a play.
I noticed all your songs are set for limited play time ??

Although I'm not sure #5 still applies......

1) first of all why does it appear NEW ... if it ISNT
2)JR comes with settings ... as you point out for the user to CHOOSE .... else why have them ?
3) what settings then do you recommend if all the options GIVEN dont actually work ... what do you recommend ?
4)I noticed all your songs are set for limited play time ?? ... YES ! i like this option ! ... its an OPTION so it should not cause a problem ... is setting max chart history to 0 bad ? i dont know ?! but its an OPTION ... a small site doesnt need 60 days of charts .... 0-3 is better with a movement of 1 or 2 ?! ... but does this mean caches must be set to 60 not 3600 ?

id appreciate just YOUR settings that WORK ... except for the "limited play thing" ... im not having someone record all our stuff in the background ...

I'm sorry but I didnt mean to imply that I was an expert with the charts..... Confused
I was simply answering your question about the "New" graphic and offering some observations of what I have noticed about my test sites that might" affect the charts. Just the fact that you have your settings basically set to move the songs up or down daily and they still say new, make me question if the song plays are even getting counted or not. Thus the question about the preview length. Maybe the page cache just hasn't had enough time to update the charts page yet. I really don't know. But I do know the charts can sometimes take a few days to start working correctly after you've stopped making changes to it.

But all my test site settings are the standard default Jamroom settings (never changed).
New Profile Ignore Timer = 0
Show Admins = No
Maximum Returned Results = 1000
Default Results per Page = 25
Spotlight Method = Random
Chart Maximum Memory = 256
Chart Maximum History = 0
Chart Maximum Songs = 0
Song Chart Change = 10
Chart Maximum Videos = 0
Video Chart Change = 10

Sorry I can't be more help.....
